Monica Lee

Qualifications:

Born into a family passionate about music, Monica began her formal musical training on the piano at 5 years of age. She soon began to show interest in the violin and began to learn at 9 years of age. Monica studied Music at the Sydney Conservatorium High School and at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (University of Sydney) under the guidance of Jennifer Hoy and Alexander Todicescu.
 

Throughout her musical training, she participated and performed with many chamber music groups and orchestras including Conservatorium high school Orchestra, Sydney Conservatorium Orchestra, Sydney Conservatorium Opera Orchestra, Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, SBS Youth Orchestra and Kozy (Korean-Australian) Orchestra. 
 

In 2009, Monica gained her Kindermusik license (early childhood music and movement program) and has taught Kindermusik classes in the lower north shore and northern beaches in Sydney. (Mosman, Neutral Bay, Manly and Naremburn). Monica also provided music classes at various childcare centres and preschools in Mosman, Balmoral and Chatswood areas.

Monica is a Senior Registered Music Therapist and Neurological Music Therapist currently working at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick. She is a member of the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and is registered with The Academy of Neurological Music Therapy. 

Throughout her Music Therapy training and career, she has conducted numerous individual and group music therapy sessions in a variety of settings including age care facilities, hospitals, special education schools and private practice. Monica has had the privilege of working with people across all age groups, various ethnical backgrounds and levels of abilities.
Monica enjoys incorporating music and play in her sessions and is passionate about providing a person centred holistic approach when providing and facilitating sessions.

 

Monica aims to use music to support creativity and to provide and create opportunities for self expression, empowerment and personal growth thus enhancing & optimising each individual's wellbeing.  
Monica has more than 10 years of teaching experience and is grateful for the opportunities to share her passion, love and knowledge of music with her students and to witness their growth and see the positive effects music brings to their life.

Jean Lee

Following the footstep of her sisters, Jean began her Musical Journey at the age of 5 on the Piano. At the age of 8, she was introduced to the Cello, beginning her studies with cellist and conductor Thomas Tsai.
 

Jean is a graduate of the Conservatorium High School and Sydney University’s Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music (Music Education) and has had the opportunity to study under cellists Minah Choe, Umberto Clerici and Georg Pedersen.
 

She has many years experience performing in chamber, orchestral and solo settings as a cellist, having participated and performed with the Conservatorium High School Orchestra, Sydney Conservatorium Orchestra, SBS Youth Orchestra, Voces Caelestium Choir and Orchestra, Saesoon Presbyterian Church Chamber Orchestra, Milal Missions and Kozy (Korean-Australian) Orchestra. 
 

She currently works as the Music Secretary and Classroom Music Teacher at Sydney Grammar School Edgecliff Preparatory School, and previously worked at the Conservatorium High School as Assistant Manager of the Music Program, ensemble coordinator and Classroom Music Teacher, being fortunate to work with and be mentored by some of Australia's finest musicians and educators who not only inspire her to become a better musician, but an all-rounded music educator who strives to improve an individual's learning experience  through the multi-faceted aspects of Music.

Jean has over 10 years teaching experience on the Cello and caters for each individual students' abilities and goals as she understands that everyone has a different learning style and appreciation for music.
